Location: Hybrid (Travel Throughout New England)
Schedule: Full-Time | Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM (Hours may vary based on client needs and travel.)

We’re looking for a passionate Assistive Technology Specialist to join our growing Technology Rehabilitation team and help individuals who are blind or visually impaired achieve greater success at home, school, work, and in their communities.

What You’ll Do
As an Assistive Technology Specialist, you’ll work directly with students, adults, educators, rehabilitation professionals, and families throughout New England to identify and implement technology solutions that improve accessibility and independence.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting Assistive Technology evaluations and developing personalized recommendations.
- Providing one-on-one training on screen readers, magnification software, braille technology, video magnifiers, and mobile accessibility tools.
- Installing, configuring, and troubleshooting assistive technology devices and software.
- Delivering services in schools, homes, workplaces, and remotely.
- Collaborating with Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVIs), educational teams, rehabilitation professionals, and family members.
- Providing ongoing support to ensure clients successfully adopt and use their technology.
- Maintaining accurate documentation and service records.
- Representing New England Low Vision and Blindness at trainings, conferences, and community events.
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate is an experienced assistive technology professional who enjoys working directly with people and is committed to helping others succeed.
Qualifications include:
- CATIS (Certified Assistive Technology Instructional Specialist) certification, or the ability to obtain certification within 12 months of hire.
- Experience providing assistive technology evaluations and training for individuals who are blind or visually impaired.
- Strong communication, presentation, and customer service skills.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently while managing a flexible schedule.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Rehabilitation, Vision Studies, or a related field preferred.
- Willingness and ability to travel throughout New England.
Technical Skills
- Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android accessibility features.
- Screen readers and magnification software.
- Refreshable braille displays and braille notetakers.
- Video magnifiers and other adaptive technology solutions.
