2020 Winner of the Clement J. Krug, Sr. Let’s Go Attitude Award Announcements News  On August 26, 2020, New England Low Vision and Blindness announced that Ryan Menter, a 10th-grade student from Noble High School in North Berwick Maine, is the winner of the 2020 Clement J. Krug, Sr. Let’s Go Attitude Award.

This award was established in honor of the spirit of the late Clement J. Krug, who is the father of company President Scott V. Krug, recognizing one special student with a similar attitude, who never gives up.  The winner of the award receives one technology product valued up to $6,000.

To be considered for the award, students were required to write a 500-1000 word essay explaining why they demonstrate a “Let’s Go Attitude” and be nominated by a TVI, CLVT, COMS, Social Worker, OT, OD, MD or a Low Vision Professional that works with visually impaired students.  <Click here to learn more about the entry requirements>

“My Dad tapped into a well, a well of faith in God which hydrated his spirit, a “lets go” spirit of hope visible as his body was failing.” said Scott Krug, President of New England Low Vision and Blindness.  Scott went on to say, “In light of all that I have been given, it gives me deep satisfaction to give back in my Dad’s honor to Ryan Menter, a young student from Maine, his desired technology, a Braille Note Touch 32 Plus, as the 2020 Clement J. Krug Sr. essay contest winner for the student whose essay best reflected my Dad’s let’s go spirit. Congratulations Ryan!”

“I am very grateful and honored to be the recipient of this award. It is amazing to see how far assistive technology has come and the BrailleNote is a great piece of equipment.” said Ryan. “This device will help me in achieving my continued educational goals as I finish high school and enter college.” Ryan went on to say.

Ryan was nominated by Nancy Moulton, Program Director, Education Services for Blind and Visually Impaired Children, Catholic Charities Maine. “We greatly appreciate our partnership with NELVB and the opportunity that is being provided to Ryan. He is a lover of technology and will put this device to good use.  Thank you very much.” said Nancy on this exceptional award.
