  • Jordy Glasses and Aira are two pieces of technology used to help the visually impaired
  • Two veterans used the gear to enjoy the Panthers game Friday
  • They were excited to try out the technology for the first time

They tried out two pieces of technology to assist people who are visually impaired. The first is called Aira which is a pair of smart glasses with a camera. Using an app the user connects with an agent who’s located miles away. The agent, using the glasses camera, can see what’s in front of the user so they can talk to them and tell them how to navigate.

The second are Jordy Glasses. The glasses have high definition auto focus and it allows people to better see what’s in front of them.

The technology excited the veterans who tried it out for the first time on Friday.Visually Impaired Veterans Watch Panthers Through New Lens News Technology

“It gives me hope and encourages me to stay focused,” said Robert Crawford.

“You’re able to see something. You’re able to make out a face, make out a gesture, you’re able to make out a hand wave or shake or something. So, that in itself, is just life changing,” said Keith Robinson.

The Charlotte area Delta Gamma alumnae chapter partnered with Carolina Low Vision and Aira to allow the vets access to the technology Friday night.
